Home Health Aid (HHA)
Course Description
We currently offer Home Health Aide (HHA) training to work in the State of New York. Our course is approved by the New York State Department of Education in conjunction with NYS Department of State. According to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, elderlies needs long-term care services or support in their remaining years. Home Health Aide (HHA) are considered paraprofessionals.

- Infection Prevention and Standard Precautions
- Safety and Body Mechanics
- Emergency Care and Disaster Preparation
- Physical, Psychological, and Social Health
- Body Systems and Related Conditions
- Confusion, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease
- Human Development and Aging
- Positioning, Transfers, and Ambulation
- Personal Care Skills
- Medications and Technology in Home Care
- New Mothers, Infants, and Children
- Dying, Death, and Hospice
- Clients’ Nutritional Needs
- Meal Planning, Shopping, Preparation, and Storage
Practicum:
Students are required to do a clinical internship under the supervision of a licensed nurse during the course.
Certification:
After completing all course requirements, the student is given a Global School of Health Home Health Aid certificate. Along with the certification, graduate will be registered in the New York State Home Care Registry, giving them the ability to work in patient homes, assisting living facilities, and even private care. Upon graduation, Global School of Health has job placement assistance available on site.
Duration:
The Home Health Aide training, (84 hours) program includes 8 hours of clinical supervision. Students will be taught the topics above during the 76 hours of classroom instruction and the externship (8 hours) will be held in a patient homecare setting with a different schedule from the class schedule. Students will be responsible for the transportation to and from the externship site.

Requirements for enrollment
- Picture ID(passport, driver’s license or state ID, or military ID)
- Complete school application
- Annual Physical
- Social Security Card is NOT required
- High School Diploma or a GED (If a student is unable to provide a copy of the diploma he/she may take a NO COST entrance exam.)
