Course Objectives

Students will be able to seek employment as a Medical Assistant (MA) and to be educated with the most relevant courses and practical methods available in the Medical Assistant (MA) field.

Course Description

As a Medical Assistant student, you will embark on a transformative journey that prepares you for a rewarding career in healthcare. Our comprehensive program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to succeed as a Medical Assistant. Course topic includes:

  • Intro to computer (30 hrs.)
  • Medical Billing (60 hrs.)
  • Medical Office Administrative (30 hrs.)
  • Microsoft Excel + Word (60 hrs.)
  • A&P (120m hrs.)
  • Phlebotomy (60 hrs.)
  • EKG (60 hrs.)
  • Keyboarding I-II (60 hrs.)

You will develop clinical skills to perform vital signs, prepare patients for exams, and assist with medical procedures. You will learn to maintain accurate and confidential medical records, manage billing and insurance claims, and perform other essential administrative tasks. Through our program, you will cultivate effective communication strategies to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. You will develop a deep understanding of the importance of professionalism, ethics, and cultural sensitivity in healthcare settings.

Practicum:

Students will be taught the above skills during the 600 hours of classroom instruction. The externship (300 hours) will be held in at a private practice/Medical office facility during the last week of the program. Students will be responsible for the transportation to and from the externship site.

Certification:

Upon completion of our program, you will be prepared to take the certification exam to become a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

Duration:

The MA training (900 hours) program includes 300 hours of lab supervision.

  • High School Diploma or a GED (If a student is unable to provide a copy of the diploma he/she may take a NO COST entrance exam.)
