Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG)
Course Description
As an EKG Technician you’ll be making a life-changing difference, helping people of all ages prevent and treat heart disease. Our EKG Training meets all the requirements to work in the State of New York. Our course is approved by the New York State of Education Department. The approved curriculum includes many topics such:
- Cardiology anatomy & physiology
- Identifying the signs and symptoms of cardiopulmonary compromise
- Identify dysrhythmias
- Respond to potentially life-threatening arrhythmias (e.g., ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation)
- EKG machine troubleshooting
- Electrodes application
The course also covers a detailed domains of the CET examination:
- Safety, Compliance, and Coordinated Patient Care
- EKG Acquisition
- EKG Analysis and Interpretation
Practicum:
Students are not required to do a clinical internship but each candidate for the EKG certification must be able to successfully perform a minimum of ten (10) EKG’s on live individuals under the supervision of a licensed instructor during the course.
Certification:
After completing all course requirements, the student is given a Global School of Health EKG certificate, giving them the ability to apply for the National Healthcare Association (NHA) and/or the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). EKG Technician Certification (CET) exam offered onsite

Requirements for enrollment
- Picture ID(passport, driver’s license or state ID, or military ID)
- Complete school application
- Annual Physical Exam
- Social Security Card
- High School Diploma or a GED (If a student is unable to provide a copy of the diploma he/she may take a NO COST entrance exam.)
