Patient Care Technician (PCT)
Course Description
Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals rely on patient care technicians to assist with the critical day-to-day care some patients require. They provide hands-on assistance to serve patients’ basic needs, which greatly impacts the lives of their patients and their patients’ families. Our Patient Care Technician (PCT) Training meets all the requirements to work in the State of New York. Our course is approved by the New York State of Education Department. The approved curriculum includes many topics:
- Bedmaking
- Vital signs measuring and monitoring
- Measuring intake and output
- Drawing blood
- Performing CPR
- Administering IVs
Practicum:
Students are not required to do a clinical internship but each candidate for the CPCT certification must be able to successfully perform 130 hours of clinical supervision. Students will be taught the topics above during the 130 hours of classroom on live individuals under the supervision of a licensed instructor during the course.
Certification:
After completing all course requirements, the student is given a Global School of Health Patient Care Technician certificate. Giving them the ability to apply for the National Healthcare Association (NHA) and/or the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam offered onsite
Duration:
The PCT training (130 hours) program includes 65 hours of lab supervision. Students will be taught the above skills during the 65 hours of classroom instruction. The lab component (65 hours) will be held onsite.
